Meeting sweet Sloane was quite the honor. She is full of personality and love. Her mama and I have been friends since high school and after a number of years we connected over Facebook. I’ve always been an on-location photographer, traveling to my clients homes, meeting at common outdoor locations, and really capturing the essence of family and love in an environment my client is most comfortable. This little girl was no exception. Sloane and her mama greeted me at the front door with lots of smiles. She didn’t mind someone new being in her environment and she was excited to show me her room and favorite toys. We also set up a small cake smash with the most adorable cake from Hanisch Bakery in Red Wing. It was a blast seeing her light up after realizing she could not only eat but destroy her piece of bakery bliss. This little sweetie is turning one year old this weekend and will be celebrating with family and friends! Happy 1st Birthday Sloane!

For any Minnesotan, we can all agree that you never get used to the Winter. And this year, it has been a cold one. The cold. The snow. The wind. The wind chill. Layers and layers of clothes and jackets and mittens and hats and scarves. Okay, okay, we get the picture. We got a little warm weather our way this past weekend and can you believe that those MN Summer nights are right around the corner?! I can't wait to get out and capture some beautiful skylines. Here is a picture of downtown St. Paul, MN taken in Summer 2014. I remember a homeless man named Peter came over to see what I was doing. We had a great conversation about how beautiful our wonderful state is and that on nights like this, the cold Winters are always worth it.
I can't wait for another night like this.
